Car alarms
Car alarms are definitely items that could come in handy if somebody is attempting to break into your car, but there are some annoyances associated with them as well.
One of the biggest annoyances is the fact that there are many things that set them off that are not really a threat to your car. For example, if there is a loud noise in a paring lot, chances are your alarm will sound. The worst thing about this is that unless you are nearby, it could sound for a while until it finally turns itself off.
Another bad time for the alarm to go off is at night when you are sleeping. Often the alarm is loud enough to wake up you and your neighbors, but the perpetrator is often just a cat jumping on the hood.
This is not to say that car alarms are a waste of time. On the contrary, if you live in an area that has a high car theft rate, it is definitely a good idea to consider car alarms. It is also important to understand the advantages as well as the disadvantages.
