Most free or discounted equipment purchases require you to sign an agreement that obligates you to pay the monitoring company so much per month. This ranges from around $30-$40 per month.
So even though you may feel like you are getting a free system, the truth is that you are often signing a home alarm system contract worth more than $1,000 that is made in incremental monthly payments of $30 at a time.
