Personal alarms
A personal alarm is an item that can help women, men or children feel safer when they are on their own. These alarms are available in different styles and shapes, but the purposes are all pretty much the same – to keep you safe.
Often people will carry a personal alarm on key chains. The way it works is quite simple. Say you are walking in a dark parking garage or down a secluded alley all by yourself. Then, say a shadowy figure emerges from the darkness and is menacingly coming towards you.
In these situations some people report being too afraid to say anything, but if you have a personal alarm, you will not have to. The way a personal alarm works is really quite simple.
At the sign of danger, all you need to do to ward of any would-be attackers and alert anyone else who might be in the area, is simply remove the pin that activates the alarm.
The result is a high-pitched, extremely loud sound that resonates and draws attention to the bearer. The noise is designed to scare off the person who was planning to attack you. To disable it, re-insert the pin. The simplicity of it all is something that draws many to carry a personal alarm.
